Play Space To date 3 projects have been completed, 2 projects at fundraising stage and 1 project is in the early stage of development. Pier Point Play space Project ![]() Tennyson Street Play Centre, Radford, Nottingham
The Centre is an 'open access' play facility that has operated out of out of an old
terraced house for over 20 years. It provides activities for 5 - 13 year olds from
the local area and they are looking to extend their facility following increases in
the number of children attending and their need for more space to develop exciting projects.tanc worked with the workers, management committee, parents and the children themselves to develop a brief for the project. The treasure hunt was used to get ideas from the children /young people at the Centre, as it is a good technique for a range of ages. It involves a treasure map with clues and question and option boards at appropriate locations (i.e. if asking what to do with a specific part of the play centre) to collect ideas, thoughts, experiences, and priorities. The treasure hunt is a fun way of collecting information on a project or a neighbourhood. The brief has now been compiled and tanc is now working alongside members of the Management Committee who have formed a project sub-group. A 'timetable of tasks' has been agreed looking at aspects of business planning, feasibility study, project promotion, fundraising and the building. At each monthly meeting feedback from previous tasks are discussed and 'ticked off' the checklist and further tasks allocated. At each stage it is clear what has been done, what needs to be done, who is doing it and by when.
