On-going
St Ann's Allotment Consortium, Nottingham

Hungerhill Allotments forms one of the largest and oldest Allotment sites in the country tanc played a key role in establishing the Consortium, having worked over a number of years to support and secure the site's long term viability alongside St Ann's Allotment Campaign. The importance of the gardens has now been recognised by English Heritage, who placed them on the Register of parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England (Grade II (a) in October 2000. Our previous support included:
  • campaigning to secure political commitment and increased resources for the site
  • regular consultation with existing gardeners to collect information on themselves, identify their priorities for action and keep them informed of progress
  • fundraising for site improvements
  • Facilitating consortium of interested local groups/organisations who are now ready to put in a substantial bid to the Heritage Lottery for site improvements.

The Consortium is made up of six local organisations including tanc: St Ann's Allotment Campaign, The Renewal Trust, Ecoworks, Greater Nottingham Groundwork Trust, and NECTA (Nottingham Environmental Construction for All) who are all committed to improving the sustainability of Hungerhill Allotments.

This year took us one steep nearer to the goal of securing funding from the National Lottery. tanc's Support included:
  • drafting the Site Management Plan and Conservation Plan brief
  • identifying suitable landscape architects
  • organising interviews and helping appoint landscape consultants
  • drawing up a timetable for works after the consultant had been appointed

Clipstone Miners Welfare, Nottinghamshire
